HORT 2234 Environmental Factors in Horticulture

This survey course introduces the student to the environmental factors of the air and soil that a plant encounters during its life time, plant responses to the environment and the horticultural practices that address these factors. Two major themes guide course content -- the horticulture of the future must be sustainable and successful horticulture requires consideration of plant characteristics, human behavior and environmental factors. Assessment is based on understanding lecture content, a short oral presentation, and a written assignment.  (Spr 2009 Q7 = 3.2)

     BCHM 5984 Professional Development

Success in graduate school requires a significant transition from the practices that made for a successful undergraduate career. Additionally, entry graduate students often encounter unfamiliar but essential activities for graduate research. This course provides a basic understanding for entry-level graduate students on archiving research data, scientific communication, accessing scientific literature, scientific publications, research funding, and laboratory manners.
