John A. Mallory, III BS '98 is building a vineyard and winery for Patricia Kluge. He lives in Charlottesville, VA.

Wendy Couchoud Baker BS '97 is a patent examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She makes determinations of patentability for traditional plant patents; those directed towards new cultivar introductions by the nursery industry. She and her husband Stephen live in Columbia, MD.

Douglas W. Croft BS '96 is a horticulturist at Chanticleer. He previously was employed as a staff horticulturist at Haverford College Arboretum. He lives in Haverford, PA.

Kathleen D. Duncan MS '96 is a landscape designer for Custom Gardens, Inc., Yorktown, VA. She and her son live in Gloucester Point, VA.

Mel Oluoch Ph.D. '96 is a training specialist/scientist for the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center in Tanzania. His wife, who received her Ph.D. in Education this year, and his daughter Tiffany just recently joined him in Tanzania.

Stephen Zurek 'BS 96 is a landscape architect for the City of Norfolk. He received an M.L.A. from LSU in 1998. He has bought and renovated a house in ocean view area of Norfolk.

Jennifer Mennuti BS '95 is the owner of Botanical Visions, Inc., a landscape design and consulting firm in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She lives in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL.

Mark Weathington BS '95, MS '99 is a supervising horticulturist at Norfolk Botanical Gardens. He and his wife Mary have two children and live in Norfolk.

Ruth Sorenson King BS '93 is an information system analyst at McDonald Garden Center, Hampton, VA. She received an A.A.S. in Computer Information Systems in 1999. She and her husband Paul have two children and live in Smithfield, VA.

Susan Schneider Heidebrecht BS '93 is an environmental analyst consultant for Maryland State Highway Administration. She got married this year, and she and her husband Bruce are building a house in Glyndon, MD.

Michael Compton Ph.D. '90 received a $5000 award as a recipient of the 1999 Alliant Energy "Underfofler Excellence in Teaching Award." Mike is an assistant professor of horticulture and biotechnology at University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Christopher Wiseman BS '90 is manager of Ernst & Young IT Consulting. He will be moving to Milan, Italy, temporarily to help organize IT Consulting efforts across Italy. He lives in Atlanta, GA.

 

1980-1989

Susan Mishkin Kiser BS '88 Susan and her husband Joe have just had their second baby, Christopher Daniel, born October 6th. They also have a 3 year old son, John Michael.

Patricia Hamblin England BS '87 is the co-owner and operator of Clarke Valley Vineyards. She is also secretary/treasurer for the Far Southwest Virginia Vineyard Association. She and her husband David have three children and live in Richlands, VA.

Richard Johnson BS '87 was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Bennetts Creek Nursery where he has worked for 11 years. He and his wife SueAnn March Johnson BS '87 (Hort) reside in Suffolk with their two boys, ages 5 and 2. SueAnn is CEO of the Johnson household.

Bob Polomski M.S. in Hort (Pomology) in '86, is the Consumer Horticulture Information Coordinator at Clemson University. His book entitled Month-By-Month Gardening in the Carolinas was published this year by Cool Springs Press. Congratulations, Bob!

Robin Daughtrey Collins BS '83 along with her husband Kevin own and operate Virginia Vistas Greenhouses. They live in Berryville, VA.

Kris Phillips Holstrom MS '83 is a self-employed organic grower. She grows organic produce year round at 9000 ft. elevation. She and her husband John have two children and live in a solar-powered home in Placerville, CO (in the San Juan mountains near Telluride, CO).

Virginia MacLeod Buchanan BS '82 has temporarily retired for motherhood. She and her husband David have moved to Greensboro, NC from Colorado.

Susan Ruiz-Evans BS '80 works for the NC Cooperative Extension Service. She received her MS degree in Horticulture in 1999. She and her husband Dr. Donald Evans live in Kill Devil Hills, NC.

S. Adam Salzberg BS '79 is the co-owner of A&R Landscaping. He and his wife Katherine live in Chesapeake.

David S. King BS '77 is the owner of Floral King Greenhouses and Templin Flower Garden in Bristol. He lives in Piney Flats, TN.

Charles D. Mattox BS '75 lives in Lynch Station, VA. He married Kelley Gravely in April 1999.

 

1969 and before

Rodney L. Webb BS '47 is the owner of Webb's Florist and Greenhouses. He and his wife Maxene live in Beckley, WV.
