The Department of Horticulture deeply mourns the victims of the tragedy at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007. Jocelyne Couture-Nowak, wife of Jerzy Nowak, our department head, was killed while teaching Intermediate French in Norris Hall. Jocelyne was a charming woman, filled with warmth and sparkle, who we will remember as a dedicated teacher with a passion for the French language and culture and a love of gardens.
