Club Mission
- To foster, promote, and encourage closer professional and social relationships between the faculty, students, and horticulture community.
- To present current developments in horticulture, and to educate students on these changes in trends.
- To develop contacts and friendships within the horticulture community.
- To promote horticultural interest within Virginia Tech, the community, and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
What We Do
The horticulture exists to support our members, our department, and our local community.
For our members, we offer scholarships for outstanding participation in the club. We also offer many social events and outings during the school year, as outlined on our Events page.
For our department, we underwrite two major trips. In the fall, there is a tour of the gardens of the Northeast, and in the spring we tour gardens in the South. We also represent our department in the PLANET Student Career Days
For our community, we give back with service and education projects. We participate in Adopt-a-Highway, as well as other public clean-up projects. We also have taken the initiative to help maintain the planting beds around Saunders Hall.
Finally, our major education project is our partnership with Harding Avenue Elementary to establish their Green Club.
