Independence Secondary School Garden

Come See What We Have Done With Our Garden!

At Independence Secondary School, Steve and I have been working with a group of seven wonderful students on a garden project for their school. Independence Secondary is located on a little hill in Christiansburg, Virginia. The students have been working on a comprehensive, three-year plan for their garden in the back of their school. This year we have gotten the whole school involved in the project by having work days. The first work day we will be doing clean-up of existing beds, laying manure, and mulching. The next couple of weeks our group will be getting ready for another work day for the entire school. This day will consist of installing a water garden! The whole school is excited about this project! The plan for the next two years consists of extending the garden and installing a brick patio and permanent benches.
