Interest Areas: commercial tree-fruit production, systems-level research, sustainable agriculture, sensory evaluations, soil health indicators, PCR-based approaches to soil microbial community profiling, environmental impact models, phytochemical quantification, economic feasibility models, eLearning software, hard cider production, new and heirloom fruit varieties

My research is focused on a systems-based approach to addressing the challenges of producing tree fruit sustainably and profitably. My work crosses disciplinary fields and I often partner with colleagues in soil science, entomology, food science, plant pathology, agricultural economics, and agricultural education. I am based at the Alson H. Smith AREC in Winchester.
