Robert Wright, Julian and Margaret Gary Professor

My personal research and extension activities support the nursery industry of the state and nation, with emphasis on plant nutrition.

Robert received his Ph.D. degree from Purdue University, M.S. from the University of Tennessee, and B.S. degree from University of Tennessee Martin. He teaches a course in Nursery Crops and works closely with the nursery industry on problems facing the industry. His research efforts are focused on developing a novel container substrate for nursery and greenhouse crops made from 100 percent ground pine tree. The substrate is called WoodGro™ for which a U.S. patent has been awarded. For more information about this project please go to Robert's WoodGro research site.
